COOPERSTOWN GIRLS WIN STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The CCS Girls win the 2015 class “C” state title at HVCC.  CCS defeated Northern Adirondack in the championship game 61-34.  Tournament MVP Liz Millea scored 30 points and her back court partner Jennifer Flynn was named to the all tournament team.

Cooperstown girls Class “C” basketball sectional champions

image image image image imageThe CCS girls team is the class “C” sectional champiom for the third time in the last 7 years.  The Hawkeyes beat Weedsport in the finals for the second time in the last 3 years.  Cooperstown had a balanced offense outscoring Weedsport 48-33.  The game was essentially over at halftime with a score of 30-11.  The biggest key as it has been for much of the season is the smothering man to man defense.  The quickness and team defense has really taken the Hawkeyes opponents out of their comfort zone.

Liz Millea was named tournament MVP and Julie Ford was named to the all tournament team.

Next up is Section  IV Watkins Glen at Oneonta State university at 3pm on March 14.
